In need of a luxury girls’ getaway? Whilst I’m a Miami girl at heart, I love heading to Arizona for a wellness trip. Arizona’s gorgeous desert and mountain landscapes are the perfect setting for a relaxing and healthy getaway. The city of Scottsdale is home to a myriad of wonderful spa resorts, so that’s where I recommend you go.
A wellness weekend is the perfect opportunity to bond with your girlfriends over luxurious experiences and recharge your batteries. With everything that’s going on in the world right now, you most definitely deserve it. Here are the best luxury spa resorts in Arizona for a girls’ getaway.

The Phoenician offers guests a chance to relax and renew whilst marvelling at the area’s stunning natural landscape. You’ll definitely want to spend some time soaking up the views by the spacious pool. You can also marvel at the beautiful Camelback mountain with a handcrafted cocktail at the Thirsty Camel bar. The Phoenician also hosts English-style afternoon tea from Thursday – Sunday, featuring buttery scones and Devonshire clotted cream.
The in-house spa is one of only sixty Forbes Five Star spas in the world, so the Phonecian really is the creme de la creme of Arizona’s wellness scene. Opt for the signature Fire and Ice massage or soothe dry skin with a shea body butter wrap. There’s a tranquil and modern post-treatment room to relax in afterwards, and why not get a bouncy blowout at the Dry Bar?
The Gainey House suite inside this palm-tree lined resort is perfect for you and your girl gang. The 2,450 square feet residence features two spacious bedrooms, a fully stocked chef’s kitchen, and a multi-level terrace with a grill.
The entire resort is a desert oasis but the Spa Avania especially embodies this. It provides an immersive experience inspired by the five elements and incorporates elements of traditional Asian medicines and healing therapies. Personally, I’m partial to a 90-minute Luk Pra Kob treatment. It’s a rejuvenating Thai bodywork that involves massage, stretching and a steamed herbal compress.
As for fitness, there are TRX suspension classes available which build core strength for abs of steel. This style of training is so much fun to do in a group. I think it’s a great bonding experience. Why not use your girls’ getaway to try something new?
A luxurious desert sanctuary based at the foot of a mountain? Sounds pretty great to me.
The gorgeous and sophisticated Sanctuary villas are perfect for a group getaway and offer stunning views of the dramatic surrounding landscapes. In the evenings, you can soak in your private balcony jacuzzi as you gaze at the gorgeous desert sunset.
The resort’s Asian-inspired spa is the perfect place to rediscover your zen. There’s a meditation garden, a reflection pond and a female-only quiet room. The spa is offering a limited treatment menu due to covid-19 but there are still plenty of indulgent options available. You can participate in a guided walking meditation or opt for specialized treatments like acupuncture or a coconut sumatra body ritual. I personally prefer a custom massage as the therapists are happy to tailor your treatment just how you like it.
The gorgeous Boulders Resort and Spa is one of the best luxury spa resorts in Arizona. It’s especially perfect for an outdoorsy girl gang. There are so many adventurous activities on offer to help you connect with your desert surroundings, including a Grand Canyon air tour, stargazing sessions, horseback riding and rock climbing.
All rooms and villas have an elegant and welcoming southwestern-style decor. The villas are especially great for girl groups – particularly the Villa Retreat which actually combines two beautiful properties.
The spa cafe, salon and sauna are currently closed but there are still plenty of amazing treatments on offer. I was really impressed by just how extensive the treatment range is at Boulders’ spa. I love trying out unique local treatments at destination spas. If you’re the same then I definitely recommend the signature turquoise clay wrap or the Boulders Stone massage, which incorporates local blue cypress oil.
The best luxury spa resorts in Arizona offer their guests jaw-dropping views and Omni is no different. This beautiful wellness property is again close to the impressive Camelback Mountain.
The decor seamlessly blends old-world elegance with modern luxury. The Joya spa offers a chance to emerge from your girls’ weekend feeling like a brand new you. I recommend a vitamin C facial, since it’s one of my favorite skincare ingredients. Meanwhile, a hammam experience is the perfect chance for you and the girls to bond – and get silky smooth skin. The resort also offers top-of-the-range fitness classes to put you through your paces so that you and your friends can tone up together.
