There’s something oh-so dreamy about the Italian island of Capri. The island has long attracted the literati and glitterati in their hordes with its natural beauty and effortless elegance. Best of all, with the EU looking to reopen to vaccinated tourists, Capri is finally within reach for U.S. citizens! But before you start packing a bag, take a look at the best luxury hotels in Capri. From grand palaces to boutique stays, Capri hotels exude an unparalleled elegance that you won’t find anywhere else in the world.
This hotel feels like Mediterranean old money. This sophisticated hotel offers guests tranquility, privacy and very thoughtful service, making it the perfect place to recharge your batteries on your Italian vacation. It’s home to a beautiful Sisley spa and one of Capri’s best restaurants, the JKitchen. It’s widely accepted that this is one of the best luxury hotels in Capri – if not the whole of Italy.
If you’re partial to boutique hotels, you’ll fall hard for Villa Mediterranea. Its colorful, glamorous suites are filled with bold patterns and contemporary artwork, creating a fun and playful atmosphere. The decor here feels whimsical, yet well thought out. Best of all, this property is partnered with the Capri Tiberio Palace (see below) which means that when you stay here, you get free access to the latter property’s sundeck, pool and spa.
This luxury boutique hotel is fun and artistic, much like the spirit of Capri itself. In fact, the design was inspired by the 1960 classic movie ‘La Dolce Vita’. The Tiberio Palace offers guests breathtaking views, impeccable service and refined Italian cuisine. The spa is a particular standout, too, offering high quality treatments in a simple, yet elegant setting.
Perched atop a cliff overlooking the Tyrrhenian sea, Punta Tragara offers guests breathtaking panoramic views. If you like hotels with story and character then Punta Tragara is a perfect fit for you.
Iconic French-Swiss architect Le Corbusier designed the villa in the 1920s as a private home for an Italian engineer. During the Second World War, it served as the American headquarters in Italy. President Eisenhower and UK prime minister Winston Churchill met there to discuss strategies. In the 1970s, a Roman Count then converted the property into a hotel.
The color palette of the hotel was inspired by a rose garden, which perfectly matches the dreamy vibe of Capri. The rooms are light, airy and elegant, but no two are exactly alike. The helpful concierge staff will be happy to arrange activities for you. To be honest, though, it may be difficult to tear yourself away from the stunning vistas.
If I had to describe the Caesar Augustus hotel in one word it would be “authentic.” I don’t know if it’s the simple yet refined interior, the fact that it’s a family run hotel or the fresh Italian food but this place most definitely gives guests a true experience of Italy. The hotel is surrounded by beautiful vineyards and lemon trees. There’s also a vegetable garden where you can help to pick the ingredients for dinner. The building itself is postcard-perfect, giving off quintessential Italian charm with its sunny yellow exterior.
In typical Jumeirah Group fashion, the Capri Palace takes luxury to a new level. The property resembles an 18th century Neapolitan palazzo but with a five-star modern twist, of course. With white washed walls, arched ceilings and bespoke Italian furniture, each room feels graceful and modish.
The property is home to two Michelin star restaurants. L’Olivo is a Mediterranean restaurant with two Michelin stars. Meanwhile, Il Riccio Restaurant and Beach Club is the only beach club in the world to earn one Michelin star.
What really cements this property’s place on my list of the best luxury hotels in Capri is the fact that it’s home to a luxury medspa. At the Capri Beauty Farm guests can tailor their wellness treatments to meet their personal goals. Whether that’s anti-aging, weight loss, stress management or something else entirely, you’ll be able to reach your wellness goals. The innovative spa services and world-class beauty treatments will ensure that you return home feeling reborn.
